Elliotts of Newbury Dining Chairs x 4
This listing is for the 4 chairs shown - 8 chairs available.
A set of four classic slender vinyl and solid teak mid-century dining chairs manufactured in Berkshire by Elliots of Newbury, a Victorian cabinet and furniture maker, whose woodturning and joinery skills were seconded during the 20th Century Wars to make propellers and gliders, then turning their hand to more popular Nordic inspired designs in the 1950's and 60's, of which these chairs are a classic example.
The solid teak frame has finely turned round legs that flow in to a square with flat edges, the ply and teak veneer back is angled against the frame for comfort, the rear support has a fine dovetail join and concealed cup handle underneath to hold the chairs for moving - these really are exquisitely designed and made chairs.
These particular chairs are in very good used vintage condition with no rips tears or nicks in the vinyl, the seat cushions are good and bouncy (many perish away to dust)and the teak shows only minor signs of wear commensurate with age and use.
Overall dimensions: 80 x 48 x 51 cm - seat height: 43 cm.
